Tour Description

If you want to delve into ancient Roman history this is the tour for you! We will start at the most famous Gladiators’ arena in the world: the Colosseum. You will hear stories about fights with wild animals, crazy emperors and famous gladiators like Spartacus. Then, a stone’s throw from the Colosseum, we will walk to St. Clemente’s Church. The church is a fascinating place that hides three underground levels. Here you will experience time travel and discover buildings from the 4th century, see an ancient Roman ‘mansion’, and a mysterious Persian temple of the 1st century. In addition, there is even an underground river!

Know before you go

• You will be asked to show a valid ID, passport or student card (a picture on thee phone is OK).

• Dress code for San Clemente Church: you must have your shoulders and knees covered (only for adults and older children. Children under 8 years are exempted). Capri pants and shorts below the knees are accepted. Only for women: if you are wearing a sleeveless shirt, just bring a scarf to cover your shoulders.

Is the price per person or per group?

The price is intended for groups and families of up to 6 people. For larger groups, please inquire.
Are the skip-the-line tickets included?

No, the price includes only the private tour. We will purchase the skip-the-line tickets when you book the tour, according to the number of adults and children (regular priced and reduced tickets).
Who is eligibile for reduced tickets?

Children under 18 years have free access to the Colosseum. Children under 16 years have free access to St. Clement’s undergrounds.
Where do you meet your guide?

Your guide will wait for you in front of the COLOSSEO metro station, near a green newsstand. They will be holding a sign with your surname on it. Should you arrive by taxi, your driver will drop you off above the meeting point on the terrace of the station, so please walk down the stairs and meet your guide in front of the ground level metro station entrance.
What happens when you are late?

As soon as you book, we will provide you with the guide’s cell number so that you may call your guide to communicate any delays. The skip-the-line tickets have a tolerance of 15 minutes. This means you can enter the Colosseum 15 minutes earlier or 15 minutes after the time slot of your ticket. If you are more than 15 minutes late, your ticket is no longer valid.
